What is ScanVision Static sEMG?
The ScanVision tool uses Static Surface Electromyography (sEMG) to evaluate electrical signals in the muscles supporting your spine while you stand. It’s similar in purpose to manual palpation, where a chiropractor feels muscle tension with their hands, but this technology provides a data-driven, visual report instead. The process takes less than a minute and involves placing wireless sensors along the back. These sensors measure muscle activity without causing discomfort, using technology comparable to what’s found in an EKG.
How the Scanning Process Works
Once the scan is complete, the system converts the muscle activity into colour-coded visuals that are easy to interpret. These graphics show how much tension is present on either side of the spine and whether there are any imbalances.

= typical muscle tone
- Yellow
= lower-than-usual activity
- Pink
= moderately elevated tension
- Red
= high muscle strain
