Frequently Asked Questions at Burlington Appleview Chiropractic
Everything You Need to Know About Chiropractic Care

Do you directly bill my insurance company?
We don’t bill insurance directly, but we make it easy for you to get reimbursed. After each visit, we can give you a detailed receipt with all the information your insurance company needs. You simply send it in yourself, and any eligible reimbursement goes straight to you.
If I get adjusted, will I have to go forever?
The choice to continue with chiropractic care is entirely yours. Some individuals seek care for short-term relief, while others choose to continue because they experience long-term benefits. Think of it like maintaining your dental or physical health: consistent check-ups and care can help preserve your spinal function and prevent issues before they arise. How often you visit will depend on your individual goals, condition, and how your body responds over time.
Who can benefit from chiropractic care?
Chiropractic care is appropriate for individuals at nearly every stage of life, from young children to older adults. Whether you’re looking to reduce discomfort, improve mobility, or support overall well-being, chiropractic can be tailored to your needs. If you have a spine and nervous system, there’s potential to benefit.
Is chiropractic care suitable for everyone?
Chiropractic is a gentle, adaptable form of care that’s customized for each patient. In Canada, chiropractors undergo a minimum of five years of university-level education, including detailed study in anatomy, neurology, radiology, and clinical practice. Your targeted plan will be based on your health goals, comfort level, and specific needs, with techniques adjusted accordingly.
What happens at the first appointment?
Your first visit will take about 45-60 minutes. This visit is all about gathering information and understanding your health concerns. We’ll begin by reviewing your medical history and discussing what brought you in. This is followed by an in-depth examination, which may include posture analysis, spinal assessments, and possibly scans like sEMG. If appropriate, your chiropractor may also provide an initial adjustment during this visit.
What should I expect during the second visit?
During your second visit, we’ll go over the results of your initial assessment and explain what they mean. This is when we’ll present a recommended care plan based on your unique goals and findings. The visit takes about five to ten minutes, giving you time to ask questions, confirm next steps, and decide how to move forward.
What are regular adjustments like?
Routine adjustments are brief, usually five to ten minutes. Each session builds upon the progress of previous visits, helping restore proper alignment and improve nervous system function. Over time, consistent visits support better posture, reduced discomfort, and overall spinal health.
How do progress assessments work?
At specific intervals, we schedule reassessments to monitor your progress. These appointments give us a chance to measure improvements, compare current findings to your initial baseline, and refine your care plan as needed. It’s also a valuable opportunity for you to reflect on your progress and revisit your goals. Progress reports are completed every 12 to 24 visits.
